Eegyvudluk Pootoogook - Goose
Cape Dorset / Kinngait, (1931) — E7-865, engraving, 6 x 8
Eegyvudluk Pootoogook was born in 1931 at Ikarasak camp, near Cape Dorset (Kinngait). He is the son of the late graphic artist and carver Pootoogook (1887-1958), and graphic artist Ningeookaluk (1889-1962), but was raised by Iqaluq Petaulassie (Echalook Goo). His wife Napatchie is also a well-known graphic artist. Eegyvudluk's brothers Kananginak, Paulassie, and Pudlat (1919-1985) are all Cape Dorset (Kinngait) artists as well.
"Eegyvudluk is one of the small but faithful group of printers at Cape Dorset who has worked in the printshop for more than 25 years. He is known as a stone block cutter and printer, but has tried his hand at almost every technique - stonecut, stonecut and stencil, sealskin stencil, stencil, silkscreen and stencil, linocut, lithography, and etching, especially during the early, experimental years." from "Canadian Inuit Print Artist/Printer Biographies", 1990, compiled and edited by Sandra Barz
